I was lucky enough to be
invited onto the Alan Titchmarsh show earlier this week. I was asked
about dirty hospitals -an issue I am absolutely passionate
about.
I am trying to get hold
of a copy so that you can watch it on this website. Hopefully it
will appear here
soon...
4th OCTOBER
2007
I have just returned
from the Conservative Party Conference where I saw our next Prime
Minister make the most incredible speech. David Cameron's amazing speech sent shivers down my
spine!
Conference was also a
chance for me to meet Shadow Cabinet members to discuss the
important issues in
Brighton.
I also made a speech in
a fringe event outlining my political priorities. You can see part
of it
below:
I am shattered! This
weekend I was out with my canvassing team in Hollingbury and Stanmer
knocking on doors, meeting local residents to talk about local
issues and concerns. The response was brilliant. Major issues seemed
to be the NHS changes in Sussex and affordable housing. In the
coming weeks I am going to be out pounding the streets of Pavilion
to find out more about what people really care about. I will then
make sure that information gets to the people who should
know!

What a couple of
months! The local elections have come and gone and we now have a
Conservative Council working hard for all of us. This weekend just
gone was Brighton Pride. It was absolutely amazing. I was on the
Conservative float dressed as John Travolta! After two hours of
dancing, though, my platform shoes had become very painful - I'm
still recovering now!
In my opinion, the best
thing about the day was the community spirit. Families came out to
have a great day as well as the gay community. I was so happy to see
the whole of Brighton enjoying themselves.
14th MARCH

Its been a hectic week getting the website launched and creating the first edition of the Brighton Matters paper which will drop through people’s letterboxes next week. I’m really excited about getting your feedback. So let me know what you think.
21st MARCH
2007
The website officially
launched today with a good article in the Argus newspaper. The
uptake has been great and people having been emailing me their
thoughts and concerns. The on-line survey is also having good
uptake. I am really looking forward to seeing what people really
think in this anonymous survey. I have scheduled a photocall for
11am tomorrow in Brighton to highlight the failures of Government
policy. Will let you know what happens!!
2nd APRIL
2007
The NHS day was a great
success. We gave away 350 blue balloons and brighton was awash with
them. Hundreds of people signed the petition calling on the
Government to end the crisis in the NHs. They want doctors and
nurses to be in control once more and the number of managers
reduced. They want people to be seen according to clinical priority
and not according to political doctrine. The first Brighton Matters
newsletters have also gone out to three wards with good feedback.
And the on-line poll continues to attract interest and respondents.
